MANDATORY VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION TRAINING

SPECIAL NOTICE for anyone who takes commitments to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility (MCCF):  Effective July 1st, 'orientation' is required for all who are taking commitments to this facility. 

The next orientation is:  

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2014 from 7 pm to 8 pm.

Failure to attend this training will prevent you from partiipating in any of the volunteer programs.  If you have already attended the first orientaion, you do not need to attend this one.  Pease remember that this is a MANDATORY orientation for Montgomery County.  Your clearance will be removed if you do not attend one orientation.

  Held at the MCCF Work Release Building.  If you do not attend an orientation, you cannot take a commitment to this facility.  Currently we have 6 different commitments for men and 2 for women on 5 different days for a total of 35 commitments per month to this prison.  If we don't attend an orientation, the commitments will be canceled.   Please help to not let this happen.  Please RSVP and attend this orientation.

Wednesday, September 10 - the second PLANNING MEETING for the 75th Anniversary of AA in Philadelphia will be held at the SEPIA office at 7 pm.    

  

NEW CLOSED AA ARCHIVES MEETING - on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm at the SEPIA office - a taped closed speaker meeting with 1 or 2 long-time AA members.  All AA members are welcome to attend.  If you have over 20 years of continuos sobriety and want to be taped, please contact Brian Q (Archivist) or one of the Archives committee members. Call SEPIA office at 215-923-7900 and the office will pass your name and information out to the committee.

 

 ARCHIVES WORKSHOP PLANNING MEETINGS:  the Archives committee is working dilingently on planning the 18th Annual National AA ARCHIVES WORKSHOP that will take place in King of Prussia on October 10 to 12.  Planning meetings are held at the SEPIA office on the following dates and times:  Sunday, September 21 at 11 am and Saturday, October 4 at 11 am. All are welcome!

Sunday, August 24 - the GLENSIDE CENTER is having their ANNUAL SUMMER PICNIC from noon to 6 pm at Alverthorpe Park Pavillion Fox Chase Road, Jenkintown.  Hot dogs, hamburgers, corn are provided and desserts are requested to be donated.  $8 adults $2 children.  Face painting and fun for all.  All are welcome!

Tuesday, August 26 - the local MONTGOMERY COUNTY ZONE Pubic Information and Cooperation with the Professional Communities committee meets at St. Peter's Church on Easton Road in Glenside at 7 pm. All are welcome.

Saturday, September 6 - the BRYN MAWR group is celebrating their 71st Anniversary at the Bryn Mawr Hospital Nurse's cafeteria at 6:30 pm potluck and 7:30 pm double speakers.

Wednesday, September 10 - the 2nd PLANNING MEETNIG for the celebration event of the 75th ANNIVERSARY of AA IN PHILADELPHIA that will be held in the spring or fall of 2015 will be held at the SEPIA office at 7 pm.  All who want to help with the planning of this event are welcomed to attend this plannig meeting.

Tuesday, September 30 - the HANDS OF HOPE meeting at 8 pm at Grace Chuch on Gowen and Ardeigh Streets in Mount Airy will have a hearing impaired interpreter at this meeting.  The group would like to bring back the service of having an interpreter at each weekly meeting if there is a need for this service.  Please bring anyone you know to this meeting to support this service to our hearing impaired members.

 HOW TO GET INVOLVED:

SEPIA is always in need of volunteers to help carry the message of recovery. You simply have to show up. Most committees do not have a length of sobriety requirement. There are several ways to get involved.

  1. Volunteer at the SEPIA office. We ask one year of continuous sobriety to answer phones at the office. If you have less than a year, there are plenty of things you can do to help. For instance, we can always use help putting our newsletter, Interviews, together toward the end of each month.
  2. Get involved with one of our 12 Step Committees (Click Here). These committees meet at the SEPIA office, 444 N. 3rd Street, 3rd Floor, Philadelphia at 7 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) on the following nights:
